Join Dr. Barrett Larson as he discusses how he went from uncovering an unmet clinical need to preventing pressure ulcers and pressure injuries and developing a solution through a business he subsequently sold to Smith & Nephew. Barrett will be sharing how corporates think about acquisitions and how he went from an entrepreneurial spark to identifying requirements for an unmet need, qualifying that unmet need to developing a solution, and launching it in the market.
About the Speaker: Barrett Larson, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist with a focus on medical technology. He has spent most of his medical career at Stanford University, first as a medical student, then as a resident, and now as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Outside of academics, he co-founded and was CEO of Leaf Healthcare, which commercialized the first remote patient monitoring system for pressure injury prevention. The company was acquired by Smith and Nephew, a global medical technology company, where Barrett now serves as a Vice President.
