Dr. Francis J. Hornicek is Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCLA. Dr. Hornicek graduated with a B.A. in biology and mathematics from Washington and Jefferson College, earned his PhD in physics-biophysics from Georgetown University, and his M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. After completing his orthopaedic surgical internship and rehabilitation residency at the University of Miami, he went on to fellowships in Orthopaedic Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston. A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Hornicek has also had a long and distinguished academic career, beginning with Georgetown University and the University of Miami. He was a professor at Harvard Medical School and an endowed scholar at Massachusetts General.
