Ellen Pollack, MSN, RN-BC

Ellen S. Pollack, MSN, RN-BC serves as the chief information officer for UCLA Health Sciences, which is comprised of the UCLA Hospital System, the UCLA Faculty Practice Group, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and the Schools of Dentistry, Nursing, and Public Health. She has worked at UCLA Health for the past 25 years and developed the Nursing Informatics program over 20 years ago. Ellen has significant experience implementing, integrating and optimizing clinical systems. The UCLA Health Information Technology (IT) organization supports UCLA Health’s mission of delivering leading-edge patient care, research, and education. Ellen is responsible for the development and operations of the information and telecommunication systems, including CareConnect, UCLA Health’s enterprise-wide electronic health record (EHR), the Health IT Strategic Plan, and the implementation of transformative and innovative technologies while focusing on value. UCLA Health’s unprecedented initial EHR “Big Bang” go-live in March 2013 was the largest of its time. Ellen served as the deployment director for this project encompassing over 26,000 users, subsequently becoming the first chief nursing informatics officer for UCLA Health.

The UCLA Health IT organization is comprised of passionate, dedicated informaticists and technologists who strive to provide a best-in-class patient and user experience coupled with a strong customer service focus. UCLA Health has achieved numerous prestigious industry awards including the 2021 College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Digital Health Most Wired recognition in two areas – Level 9 in the Acute category and Level 10 in the Ambulatory category, one of only nine hospitals in the nation to reach that designation. UCLA Health has received the Most Wired award for nine consecutive years, the US News & World Report’s Most Connected Hospitals, the Top Masters in Healthcare Administration 30 Most Technologically Advanced Hospitals in the World, and the prestigious HIMSS Davies Award.
