Laura Santoso is an Internal Medicine resident physician at UCLA. From observing the challenges that she sees people face as a clinician, her mission is to use human-centered design to improve people’s wellbeing. Her interests include applying design thinking tools to address challenges in health equity, health system delivery, and environmental health for vulnerable populations. She has done work in design in health with UT Austin as a Clayton Foundation Fellow, UCLA as a recipient of the Diversity and Health Equity Innovation Award, medical technology start-ups, non-profit medical group, and the global design firm IDEO. She received her M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and holds a B.S. with honors in bioengineering from the California Institute of Technology.
