Capstone
What is it?
Established in 2019, the UCLA Biodesign Capstone provides Anderson MBA students with hands-on training in healthcare technology innovation and business creation. This three-quarter program offers two tracks: the Biodesign Innovation Fellowship, designed for MBA students who can commit 20 hours per week, and the Biodesign Capstone, open to MBA teams pursuing a Business Creation Capstone.
10-month innovation immersion: The UCLA Biodesign Fellowship takes participants from idea to action through a deep, applied innovation experience.
Interdisciplinary applicant pool: The program welcomes entrepreneurs, designers, software developers, engineers, doctors, and nurses eager to challenge the status quo in healthcare.
Flexible for working MBA students: Enrolled FEMBA and EMBA candidates may participate if able to fill a 50%-time appointment.
Why is it Important?
UCLA Biodesign Fellows receive Capstone credit as part of the Fellowship program, along with a quarterly stipend. Both Fellows and Capstone MBA participants gain access to industry mentors, clinical experts, and clinical immersion opportunities at UCLA Health — from data resources to direct observation of clinical care and the patient journey.
Innovate at the forefront of healthcare: Work at the intersection of medical devices, digital health, and emerging healthcare solutions.
Build a practical innovation toolkit: Learn a proven methodology for healthcare innovation and technology development.
Join a community of builders and leaders: Collaborate with like-minded healthcare innovators shaping the future of care.
How to Apply?
Interested Fellowship applicants and Capstone teams should apply by June 30, 2026 and be available for the UCLA Biodesign Bootcamp, September 16–25, 2026.
