InspiroAxis Wins 2025 Johnson & Johnson NurseHack4Health Pitch-A-Thon
InspiroAxis earned first place at the 2025 NurseHack4Health Pitch-A-Thon, presented by Johnson & Johnson, receiving a $30,000 award for its development of an automated transducer-leveling device designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of hemodynamic monitoring. The team includes UCLA Biodesign Accelerator Fellows Mike Malig, RN; Sneha Shaha, DO; and Sukhneet Dhillon, PhD. The team received guidance from advisors Onike Williams, MSN, NP-C, Program Director at UCLA Biodesign, and Gloria Juno, nursing director of the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Observation Unit at UCLA Health.
The InspiroAxis device is designed to attach directly to an IV pole or transducer holder and automatically level the transducer to the appropriate anatomical reference point in under 30 seconds. By maintaining appropriate positioning without repeated manual adjustments, the technology is intended to reduce nursing workload while supporting accurate hemodynamic pressure measurements.
