InspiroAxis — First Place
InspiroAxis earned first place at the 2025 NurseHack4Health Pitch-A-Thon, presented by Johnson & Johnson, receiving a $30,000 award for its development of an automated transducer-leveling device designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of hemodynamic monitoring.
The team includes UCLA Biodesign Accelerator Fellows Mike Malig, RN; Sneha Shaha, DO; and Sukhneet Dhillon, PhD. The project received guidance from advisors Onike Williams, MSN, NP-C, Program Director at UCLA Biodesign, and Gloria Juno, nursing director of the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Observation Unit at UCLA Health.
The InspiroAxis device attaches directly to an IV pole or transducer holder and automatically levels the transducer to the appropriate anatomical reference point in less than 30 seconds. By eliminating the need for repeated manual adjustments, the technology is designed to reduce nursing workload while supporting more accurate and consistent hemodynamic pressure measurements.
