2020 – 2021 DISCOVERY FELLOW

Elizabeth Lord, MD

Elizabeth Lord is an Assistant Professor in the Spine Division of the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at UCLA. Previously, she served as a Fellow within Columbia’s Technology Venture group, where she assessed the commercial viability and novelty of inventions produced within Columbia labs, identified investors, developed business plans, edited development proposals and reviewed patent literature. Elizabeth’s research interests include motion preservation in spine surgery, biologic adjuvants in spine fusion, and cannabinoids’ relationship to back pain and bony healing. Elizabeth completed her Orthopaedic Surgery residency training and Orthopaedic research fellowship at UCLA. After completing subspecialty training in complex spine surgery at New York University’s Langone Health System, she returned to UCLA to join the faculty. A graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Elizabeth received her AB in sociology from Harvard University where she was a member of the sailing team.
